About
Pick a horror movie and chances are, no matter how obscure, you can find it reviewed multiple times online. Detailed reviews of horror novels, however, are becoming much harder to find. Guts and Gore was launched with the purpose of bringing more attention to the horror genre in print media.
As a self-selected niche audience, horror fans can be very profitable and we’re certainly loyal to a fault. We’re also good at giving new guys a shot if we can find them. We consume the genre, not just specific authors and series.
In many bookstores horror doesn’t even warrant its own section anymore!
Never mind the harsh criticisms, the accusations of causing social decline that the horror genre has faced in the past, today’s enemies are apathy and obscurity.
In this climate horror fans are being robbed of the opportunity to browse unknown titles. The opportunity to pick up a strange book, check the cover art, spot the obligatory Stephen King proclamation that this author is “The Real Deal!”, read the synopsis and then make a buying decision.
Guts and Gore aims to help that discovery process by bringing you constant reviews of the latest horror releases in fiction, games and art as well as a look at past gems you may have missed, liberally sprinkled with a little advocacy for the genre as a whole.
